 I enjoyed watching our boys play tonight. The score did not turn out in our favor, but our team ran hard throughout the entire game. The long Thanksgiving week without practice obviously affected our team's ability to get their offense into gear, but we still had the desire and the hustle needed to compete.
DIGGING OUT OF A HOLE - It is hard to play a game when the other team comes right out and jumps up eight to zip. The rest of the game fluctuated between eight and fifteen point deficits.
JARED T HEALED - It was good to see Jared T back after rolling his ankle in the last game. Jared had some good playing time and was called upon to play the role of “Big Man” down in the low blocks.
COACH TUTTLE MISSING - Coach Tuttle wasn’t missing in the bad sense of the word, he was just not at the game. He has a job that requires him to be in California the first three days of each week. And while his presence was missed, he has got to be thankful that he has a job in our current economy. Coach Meeves took the helm tonight in Coach Tuttle’s abscence.
PARKER WAS ALSO MISSING - Parker was also not at the game and his aggressive style play was missed. Aaron said he was not at school yesterday either. The best we can hope is that he is okay and that maybe his family is still on an extended getaway.
BRETT RACES TO THE BUCKET - Late in the second half Brett was seen stealing the ball at mid-court and then racing to the hole. Don’t think for a moment that the guy who just let him steal the ball was happy or going to let him easily get away with the steal...
TANNER GOES SHOELESS - If you count the players running down court, then you can see that Tanner will be the last one to make it down to defend. The black and white thing laying on the hard court in front of him is his shoe. Somehow he was mugged and left on the ground missing a shoe without a single foul occurring... Odd!
JARED B SHOOTS UNDER PRESSURE - Jared really did a good job of driving the ball and pulling up for a jump shot. This one was early in the game and did not fall, but he put pressure on the other team’s defenders.
WILL IT GO??? - Look closely at the heads looking skyward to see if the shot will fall. Collin, Landon, and Jared T are worried about the rebound, while Aaron is protecting his privates as he comes down from trying to swat the shot and he is about to crash into Jared T.
TANNER SHOOTS AND SCORES - Coach Meeves looks on as Tanner puts up a jump shot from the free throw line.
JARED B SHOOTS - I love the style of Jared’s shot. I hate the score on the scoreboard. I am proud of Jared T’s clearing off the defender from blocking his teammates shot as Collin and Aaron crash the boards for a possible miss.
AARON SKIES HIGH FOR THE BLOCK - #25 on the white team reconsidered this shot late in the game as Aaron (41) skied over him to try the block. Jared B and Aaron were able to stop this fast break and allow Nathan, Brett and Jared T the chance to catch up and help stop the other team from scoring.
TANNER GETS AGGRESSIVE - Notice where the ball is, yet Tanner still is aggressively yanking on something. Yep, the whistle blew for a foul on #2, since the striped referee had a clear view of what we are blocked from seeing.
COLLIN HAS A GREAT LOOKING SHOT - I Love the way Jared T is spinning around to crash the boards for a possible rebound.
JARED T PUTS UP A LOW BLOCK TURNAROUND SHOT - This is just what you want from your big man, as Jared T puts up this little low block jump shot.
AARON SHOOTS AND SCORES - With just over 5 minutes to go and down by 15 points, Aaron puts up this shot and scores. The best part is that even if he missed, Jared T was perfectly positioned for a rebound and put back.
TANNER CREATES SPACE - As the defender closes in, Tanner creates good space as Aaron looks on.
NATHAN GETS THE SHOT OFF - In the first half, Nathan has 3 defenders closing in as he gets this shot off.
LANDON SHOOTS - Focused on the bucket as his defender comes out to try to block the shot, Landon strokes this pretty jump shot.
THE OREO MIDDLE - With Tanner attacking from behind and Jared T swinging to block from the front, this Lehi player must have felt like he was the white middle of an Oreo cookie.
JARED B FLIES IN FOR THE SHOT - What a great photo of Jared B driving in for the shot.
CHAOS - Lehi’s #15 was a bit out of control after this attempt to block a shot and he ended up on his bum after nearly knocking Collin over as he fell.
AARON’S FLAT FOOTED JUMPER - Late in the game Aaron put in this flat footed wide open shot for two points.
NATHAN GETS A GREAT SHOT - Nathan elevated well and got off this great looking shot in the second half of the game. Look closely at his right hand fingers as he displays a perfect follow through after the shot.
COLLIN SHOOTS & SCORES - Pardon the blur, but the action is worth enduring the blurry shot. Late in the game Collin gets this open shot high in the key. He covers this area of the court very well and is always a threat with his 10 to 12 foot jumper.
IN SUMMARY - It was fun to watch our team play!
